Painting Hope - Palette Pro

Our home is our haven, our escape, our safe space. For someone battling with cancer having the chance to come home each day is already a gift. We have the ability to make that space even more welcoming, adorning it in a way that is beyond someone’s means but definitely inferior to their worth. The message is simple. It is about letting someone know their value, their place and significance even in the middle of a stifling experience.

Painting Hope was created with the mission to enrich lives of families affected by breast cancer. During the month of October, 2015, Palette Pro Painting & Renovation selected a family in Norwalk, CT as the recipient of their first Painting Hope Project. As part of the Painting Hope Project, Palette Pro Painting & Renovation donated its services including all the material to completely repaint a total of eight rooms in a period of two days. The residence, built in 1983, had not been painted for at least 10 years, and the conditions of the substrate were very poor and in desperate need of attention. Palette Pro had to repair many areas with new drywall, patch, scuff sand all surfaces completely, and in some bathrooms even apply a mold killer/remover due to mold presence on ceilings and walls. They also completely removed all kitchen cabinet doors and hardware as part of the refinishing process. All cabinets were sanded, primed, and finish with two top coats of Benjamin Moore Advance Satin.

After learning the recipient’s story, Palette Pro was moved to go above and beyond to transform their home and make it beautiful once again. They contacted their local supplier, Wallauer’s Design Center and were able to acquire all the paint and supplies at no cost to perform the project. All primers and sundries were also donated to complete the project. This included 25 gallons of Benjamin Moore Regal Select & Ben for walls and ceiling, and Advance for all woodwork and kitchen cabinets. The family also meet with our color consultant, Christine Wetzel, who also donated her time assisting with paint color selection. Palette Pro also booked a night at a hotel for the family to enjoy time together and not be disrupted while the work was being done.

Palette Pro’s community goal is to spread the word and encourage other painting companies to embrace Painting Hope, and make a difference in their community during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
